The Ashby Food Gusto Festival 2018 – This Weekend!

Join us this weekend, Saturday 26th and Sunday 27th of May, for the Ashby Food Gusto Festival set in the Bath Grounds in the centre of the town.  With over 70 carefully selected producers to sample from and hot delicious food all day, along with live music, the Rotary Gusto Teddy Bears Picnic and performances from local artists and Dance Schools, it will be worth a visit this bank holiday weekend!

The BitterSweet Chocolate Co make scrumptious chocolate treats deliciously drenched in flavour from their small workshop based in the village of Breedon on the Hill in Leicestershire. They also have a chocolate shop inside the local village inn, The Three Horseshoes. They will be bringing a range of chocolate products on both days of the Festival.

Ashby Food Gusto Festival – Saturday 26th & Sunday 27th May

Join the Annual Ashby Food Gusto Festival and experience the Region’s Best Food & Drink on Saturday 26th & Sunday 27th May

Situated in the Bath Grounds in the centre of Ashby de la Zouch there is yet another fantastic line up with more than 60 producers and products from venison, pies, pickles, pates, farmhouse cheese, preserves, olives, artisan bread, crepes, hand crafted chocolates, patisseries to local wines, beers, ciders, spirits and more. There is something for everyone.

Why not make a day of it and enjoy lunch out where you can choose between wood fired pizza, organic beef burgers, venison and bison, spicy samosas, vegetarian/vegan dishes, Caribbean BBQ, Indian cuisine and Thai to name but a few.

These could all be washed down with local craft ale and cider, new British cocktails and English wines grown and produced in the Midlands.

 

Where possible Food Gusto tries to support local charities and this year Just 4 Children has been selected – with a special focus on Harry Culwick from Packington who suffers from Cerebral Palsy.

Wesley Ewing states “Food Gusto is all about promoting what the region has to offer in the way of high quality, local-produced food and drink. Our festivals are an explosion on the senses with lots to see and taste, giving people the chance to try new things and also to buy the best food and drink available in our region”.

This year Food Gusto has teamed up again with the Rotary Clubs of Ashby de la Zouch who will be running a Teddy Bear’s Picnic from 11-3pm at the event. At the Teddy bears picnic children can enjoy Punch and Judy shows and join in the ‘Find Rotary Gusto Bears Challenge’.

Other children’s entertainment includes rides, bouncy slide, face painting, henna tattoos, glitter tattoos and children can also purchase a special Gusto Bears Picnic Lunch Box which includes a roll, soft drink, cookie and fruit.

Entrance fee is just £2 for adults & children under 12 free, with the event running from 10.30-5pm on the Bath Grounds (LE652GP).

Great Food and Drink At The Ashby Food Gusto Christmas Fair – Saturday 2nd & Sunday 3rd December! 

The Market Street in Ashby de la Zouch will come to life with the sights, smells and tastes of Christmas this year as the perfect setting for Food Gusto largest Food & Drink Christmas Fair yet. Event organisers, Food Gusto, will be bringing their unique festively-themed food, drink and artisan fair to the town on December 2nd and 3rd following successful events in the town.

In keeping with the Food Gusto ethos, the Christmas Fair will be made up of the finest quality food and drink producers from across the region, each bringing a taste of something truly unique to the town, alongside a range of festive entertainment for the whole family, including live music and children’s rides.

The quality food and drink on offer, as well as a range of selected handmade artisan crafts, will provide the perfect opportunity for people to pick up some special Christmas gifts, while enjoying the seasonal atmosphere.

Whether you’re aiming to buy a stand out gift for that special someone, or simply want to eat, drink and be merry, the Ashby de la Zouch Food Gusto Christmas Fair will have plenty to offer, from beautifully spiced mulled wine to freshly-made mince pies.

Other offerings include award-winning Melton Mowbray pies, assorted home baked cakes, flavoured liqueurs, farm produced cider, handmade chocolates and fudge, pink gin and vodka, sparkling gold bubbly, jams, chutneys and preserves, local honey, Asian street food, cheeses, vegan food, and much, much more.

With local exhibitors bringing amazing hot and cold food and drink, along with artisan gifts, the weekend will be perfect for some Christmas Shopping!

Hot food is available both days, so you can dine out on anything from Organic Beef, Burgers & Sausages, Charcoal Grilled Souvlaki, Samosas to Thai , Wood Fired Pizza and freshly made Crepes. This can be washed down with a Local Cider, English Wine, Specialist Spirit, Hot Chocolate, Specialist Tea or Barista Coffee.

Thousands of people flocked to the Appleby Magna Food Gusto Festival last Saturday for an amazing day of local and regional food and drink and great weather. Local exhibitors included the famous Brockley’s pies, Tori and Ben’s mouthwatering local beef, Leicestershire Handmade cheese, Hill Farm Venison Packington.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Visitors were entertained by a great line-up of music organised by David Gray including the Old Guys, The Headhunters and Coreil. They were also Heritage tours, art gallery and live art demonstrations by local artist Heather Griffin.

Visitors came from across the region and even included The BBC Apprentice finalist Jessica Cunningham pictured meeting one of her biggest fans Jacob Ewing from Packington.

Event coordinator Vincent Turner stated: “The event was a real success bringing together exhibitors and foodies with a real interest in great food and drink.
